Stream from your Mac to a Sony TV
Compatible Sony BRAVIA and Sony Google TVs can browse media servers on your home network. Media Server Pro makes your shared Mac folders available to those players.
Sony TV setup
- Put your Mac and Sony TV on the same home network.
- Open Media Server Pro, add the folder that contains your videos, music, or photos, and start the server.
- On the Sony TV, open the media player, home network area, or a compatible app that can browse local media servers.
- Select Media Server Pro from the network device or media server list.
- Choose Videos, Music, or Photos, then play a file.

Common questions
Why does my Sony TV not see the Mac?
Check that both devices are on the same network, disable VPN local-network blocking, allow incoming connections in macOS Firewall, and restart Media Server Pro.
Do I need to install a Sony TV app?
Use the built-in player if your model supports browsing DLNA media servers. Otherwise, you need a compatible media-player app or a separate playback device. Availability varies by TV model.
Will every file play?
The Sony TV or receiving app decides which formats it can decode. If one file fails, test with a common MP4 file to confirm discovery and playback are working. If the media player bundled with your TV fails, you can often install a known-good app such as VLC Media Player on the TV instead.
